8 Do’s and Don’ts for Improving Eyesight

Whether we are using our phone, watching something on television or are working on a computer, we are using are eyes to concentrate on various kinds of fonts as well as images. We have started torturing our eyes a lot in comparison to the earlier times. Therefore, there are some questions that we need to ask ourselves? Are we eating the right kind of food for our eyes? Are we doing something for the relaxation of our eyes? When we are consumed in our daily work life, it is seldom that we take out time to take care of our eyes or visit our eye doctor.

Tips to Improve Eyesight

Worry no more! There are a number of simple exercises which can be done easily without too much of time being consumed or taking excess of your efforts. Experts advise that when a person is at work, he can exercise his neck by nodding up and down, which is going to increase the blood circulation of neck and eyes. Staring directly at sun is also not advisable as it can be harmful for our vision. Excessive exposure to UV rays can cause degeneration and cataract. It is important that one must use that kind of a sunglass that blocks around 99 percent of UVA as well as UVB rays.

If you are concerned about the health of your eyes, here are some do’s and don’ts for improving natural eyesight:

Food for your eyes

To do: It is extremely important that food rich in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, beta carotene, and lutein. These vitamins and compounds help in the repairing the eyes. One can eat grapes, cod liver oil, apricot, sweet potatoes, blueberries, papaya and butter.

Not to do: Do not say no to greens food items such as Brussels sprouts, kale, zucchini, collard greens and spinach.

Rest is important

To do: Get enough amount of rest is mandatory for the health of your eyes. Get ample sleep so that you can give complete rest and relaxation to you overworked eye muscles.

Not to do: Do not keep one thing for long hours as it is harmful for the eyes. One much take regular break for 5 to minutes so that you can give rest to your eyes.

Keep yourself hydrated

To do: If you feel that your eyes get tired, dry and blurry often, it is important that you should keep yourself hydrated with proper intake of water.

Not to do: Washing your face for removing tiredness from the eyes is not enough. As and when you have some extra moments, fill the mouth with water, and then splash water by keeping your eyes wide open. In this manner, you are going feel absolutely refreshed.

Exercising the eyes is important

To do: Going for some relaxation exercises for the eyes is quite important for your eyes. The best exercise is rubbing your palms together vigorously to create heat. Once you feel the warmness, place your palm over the eyes. This is going to be quite relaxing.

Not to do: Do not allow light to enter your eyes when you are exercising. Doing these exercises is necessary especially when you sit in the front of computers for long hours.

Color your food Orange

To do: Add carrots and other food items, which are rich in beta-carotene. Eat food with orange color as they are known for promoting health of eyes, and corrects your vision.

Not to do: Do not abstain yourself from adding cold-fish and nuts in your diet as they contain Omega 3. By adding these fatty acids, you will be keeping your retinas absolutely healthy, and will also be able to restrict weakening of eye sight that comes with growing age.

Avoid these

To do: avoid sugary foods as they are bad news for your eyes. The more sugar you eat, the worse your eyesight will become.

Not to do: smoke. It has been linked to an increased risk of developing age-related macular degeneration, cataract, and optic nerve damage.

Play tricks with your eyes

To do: This is one of the most popular trick exercise for the eyes and is called the 20-20-20 rule. After every 20 minutes, take a breaks of 20 seconds to focus your eyes on something that is kept at least 20 feet from you. This is going to have an extremely calming effect on your eyes.

Not to do: Do not keep staring on your eyes for a long span of time. For reducing strain on your eyes, it is important we lower the brightness level of your phone screens and computer screens.

Berry-special idea

To do: For goodness of your eyes, start eating bilberry, also known as blueberry, which is full of antioxidants. These berries are known for the protection as well as for improving the blood circulation in the eyes.

Not to do: If you are wearing glasses, it is important that you must take off your glasses as many times as possible for promoting natural unassisted vision.

Experts advise that one should roll the eyes, then look up, gradually circle the eyes at least 10 times clockwise and then at least 10 times -clockwise. If you had a long tiring day, you can place cucumber slices on your eyes. This is going to have a cooling effect on your eyes and will also be reducing the pressure. Eating health is another thing, not only for your whole body but also for your eyes. Avoid junk food, and eat citrus fruits, carrots, and eggs.
